CAM Tool Libraries
To ensure the best possible machining results, we have decided not to prepopulate speeds and feeds information into our tool libraries. Instead, we encourage machinists to access the speeds and feeds resources that we offer to dial accurate running parameters based on their material, application, and machine capabilities.

Speeds and feeds
Cutting feeds and speeds, and the spindle speeds that are derived from them, are the ideal cutting conditions for a tool. If the conditions are less than ideal then adjustments are made to the spindle's speed, this adjustment is usually a reduction in RPM to the closest available speed, or one that is deemed (through knowledge and experience) to be correct.

Feed per minute, v f Also known as the table feed, machine feed or feed speed. It is the feed of the tool in relation to the workpiece in distance per time-unit related to feed per tooth and number of teeth in the cutter. The number of available cutter teeth in the tool (z n) varies considerably and is used to determine the table feed while the effective number of teeth (z c) is the number of

The Tool Database
The Tool Database The Tool Database is used to make cutter management and selection very quick and easy, and reduces the possibility of programming jobs with incorrect cut depths and speeds and feeds. The Tool Database is accessed from the Select button every time you create a new toolpath and allows pre-defined tools and settings (speeds, feeds, stepover etc.) to be selected from a list.

Milling tools for metal indexable inserts
These are available as uncoated or high-quality coated HSS milling cutters, which permit extremely high feed rates and cutting speeds. Milling tools made from powder metallurgically produced HSS are also available for the most demanding applications, while providing extended tool life.

Milling Speeds and Feeds Charts The most important aspect of milling with carbide end mills is to run the tool at the proper rpm and feed rate. We have broken these recommendations down into material categories so you can make better decisions with how to productively run your end mills.

HSMAdvisor Help Topics Custom Speeds and Feeds
Custom Speeds and Feeds tables (aka Custom SF Tables) are linked to the tool by using the combination of manufacturer's Brand Name, Series Name, and optionally Insert Name (aka. Manufacturer Names) Whenever the tool's Manufacturer Names match one of the Custom SF Tables, HSMAdvisor tries to fetch the custom Speed and Feed information for the currently selected material.

Milling Speed and Feed Calculator
Milling operations remove material by feeding a workpiece into a rotating cutting tool with sharp teeth, such as an end mill or face mill. Calculations use the desired tool diameter, number of teeth, cutting speed, and cutting feed, which should be chosen based on the specific cutting conditions, including the workpiece material and tool material.
