Now, following the lead of an article published in the July 2014 issue of AMP, an ASM International publication, at page 15, we point out a few key issues of Vacuum Aluminum Brazing. In the previous article titanium was indicated as the preferred getter material to remove oxygen traces from the vacuum furnace atmosphere intended for brazing stainless steels and nickel alloys .

Solidification and liquation cracking issues in welding

Solidification cracking can occur in the fusion zone during the solidification of the weld metal. Liquation cracking, on the other hand, can occur in the partially melted zone during the solidification of the liquated material. These two types of cracking are reviewed in this article, including the factors that affect cracking and the remedies.

Microstructure and Property of AlN Joint Brazed with Au

The overall reaction during the brazing process can be described by the following equation: 2V + AlN + 2Pd = V 2 N + Pd 2 Al. The AlN/AlN joints brazed with the Au-Pd-Co-Ni-V brazing alloy exhibited three-point bend strength of 162.7 MPa at room temperature, and under the bend test the fracture of the joint occurred at the AlN ceramic substrate.

Vacuum Brazing with Dan Kay Archives

Today's brazing technology is based on a strong foundation of the brazing experiences of many people around the world over a period of many decades (even centuries). I've now been very active in the brazing world for almost 50-years, and, like my predecessors in the world of brazing, I've learned a lot about this fascinating joining process (and I'm still learning).

Brazing With Clad Brazing Materials

This article focuses on clad brazing material, which is defined as any base material or alloy that is clad with an appropriate lower-melting-point brazing filler metal. It provides information on typical clad brazing strip products in a tabular form and lists the advantages of using clad brazing materials.
